Blackrock National Hurling Club has a rousing ballad which appeared in its 1984 publication The Rockies. This song, which is published regularly in its annual reports and sung with passion on the occasion of famous victories by the club’s hurlers, young and old.
Today, we publish Con Hannigan’s composition, which he also named the Boys of Blackrock, and embraces, many of the men and women, who represented the area in a variety of sports and codes, over the years.
This is a copy of Con’s original The Boys of Blackrock, from his archives. in his own handwriting. My thanks to Richard T. Cooke, for providing the information.
Enjoy.
